something to think about...

i will admit i'm not that great at putting my spiritual life in the forefront these days... and i'm not sure i was ever good at it, honestly...

i know that i need to be better, especially since i have two kids to set an example for now... i know that you're supposed to start your day in God's word...but this is so hard for me...especially that "morning" part... see, i'm NOT a morning person...while i'd like to say i'm not a grump in the dawn hours (i am sure my husband may beg to differ), i do well to get up and get myself either dressed (to shower later) to tackle the morning with kids with a smile...or head to the shower to get myself ready before tackling the morning with the kids with a smile... :)

and, i don't have lots of time to read blogs these days, either... i miss the wisdom and entertainment, but i have plenty going on here to keep me on my toes... :)

anyhow, today, i had a few extra minutes and saw this quote on another blog i read. i don't know the person who wrote the blog...but she has some neat insight on various things that sometimes speak to my soul... (and she has FOUR kids and still manages time with God in the morning...)
today was one of those days...
i saw her quote and loved it... so true...and perhaps what i need to read to get a fire lit under this lacking and slacking Christian...

hope you enjoy it, too...

it comes from a devotional she has titled "Streams in the Desert"

"The morning is a critically important time of day.
You must never face the day until you have faced God,
nor look into the face of others until you have looked into His.
You cannot expect to be victorious, if you begin
your day in your own strength alone."

Hey You -- I've had a frustrating day with car issues and so forth and have definitely BEEN a grump today. And, I'm trying to get ready to be out of town this weekend to go to a marriage conference (which I think we definitely need). Anyways, here's my opinion on quiet time with God (devotions)....I think there are a few verses in Psalms somewhere about starting your day with God, but in all actuality, there's really nowhere in the Bible that specifically says you must have your specified quiet time in the morning. Sooooooo, I believe that God wants us to be in constant communion and conversation with Him throughout the day, but I do not believe that one must read Bible/do devotions in the mornings. That has helped me a lot...because I do better with my quiet times in the afternoons when Luke is sleeping -- just something to think about and pray about.

I still think the pic of your girls together is just great! :-)

I had almost given up on reading the Bible in the morning (preferring evening) because of the fact it was very difficult to get up earlier than little ones are. However, your quote you found is so true and the mercy of God is that he shows us that we can't raise our children or do anything good in our own strength. Anyway, I was going to say that Jeremy always reads and prays in the morning, but in recent years, he has taken over breakfast clean up and kids some days to let me read in the AM instead of him (it being after breakfast, I'm more awake!). So that is great.

But I think the most important thing is reading the Bible with your girls. So the whole bunch of you reading every day is essential to letting them know how important Jesus Christ is to you. And in our family, having at least had time in the more awake hours reading and praying with them, has kept me going during the times when I'm so exhausted at night and in the mornings (the only two quiet times) that its hard to concentrate on what I'm reading.

And when they're able to read pretty well, the children have time to read and pray on their own in the AM too. Good habits to start.

I didn't mean to write so much. Oh well, hope its interesting!
